"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm a constituent from [YOUR CITY/COUNTY]. I'm calling to urge [LEGISLATOR NAME]'s support for continued funding of the California Peer Run Warm Line.
The Warm Line is a critical mental health resource that prevented 14,400 emergency room visits last year alone, saving California taxpayers $93 million. This peer-led service responds to nearly 100,000 contacts annually from people seeking support before they reach crisis.
Without immediate action, this essential service will shut down on July 1, 2025. I strongly urge [LEGISLATOR NAME] to support the $15 million annual funding request for the next three fiscal years.
Mental health support is a bipartisan issue that affects all Californians. Will [LEGISLATOR NAME] commit to supporting this vital mental health resource?

Subject: Urgent: Save the California Warm Line Funding
Dear [LEGISLATOR NAME],
My name is [FIRST NAME LAST NAME]. I am one of the over 600,000 calls, texts, and chats that counselors from the California Peer Run Warm Line have provided support to since 2019.
As your constituent from [YOUR CITY/COUNTY], I'm writing with urgent concern about its future as a vital part of California's mental health infrastructure.
The California Peer Run Warm Line – our state's largest non-crisis mental health support service – will shut down on July 1, 2025 without renewed funding. This preventative service is a critical component of our mental health safety net and has proven extremely cost-effective.
The CA Warm Line helped me, my family, and my friends. We need to make sure it’s there for the next person who needs it. Why do I use and support the continued funding for the Warm line?
77% of users like me report the service helps them avoid using 911, crisis lines, or emergency rooms.
It helps prevent an estimated 14,400 ER visits each year, saving California taxpayers an estimated $93 million annually.
64% of callers report a significant reduction in distress after calling the Warm Line.
The CA Warm Line is a safe place where you can talk to someone who truly gets it—without judgment, without fear, and without cost. Support was and is always on my terms. It offers non-judgmental, voluntary support—no pressure, no forced intervention, just someone who listens. In these times of increasing mental health challenges across our state, eliminating this service would be devastating.
I respectfully urge you to support the funding request of $20 million annually for fiscal years 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28, to ensure this vital resource remains available to all Californians.
The CA Warm Line saves lives. Losing it will cost lives. California needs to step up and renew this funding—before it’s too late. More people than ever are reaching out—because mental health struggles don’t wait for office hours.
Will you commit to protecting this essential mental health service?
Sincerely,
